THE JEWEL OF MEDINA - Who was Ayesha RA?

"The Jewel of Medina - Who was Ayesha (ra - May allah be pleased with her)?

The recent US publication of the contraversial book "The Jewel of Medina" has caused alot of controversy. It is described by a US academic who reviewed it, as making “fun of Muslims and their history".

We need to stand up and defend Islam and the Honour of the beloved wife of the Prophet saw - but how much do we really know about her blessed person (May allah be pleased with her)?

Who was Ayesha (ra)? Why is she called "the Mother of the Believers"? When did she marry the Prophet saw? What was her life story? How was she the teacher of the Sahaba ra? Why is she so importent to Islam and Muslims?

As Muslims we should know the answers to the above questions, otherwise how can you defend someone we don't know?
