What do you know about Maryam (as)? who was she? Is her story only for the Christians? what status does have amongst the Muslims? What can we learn from her life?Come and find out with MOD this Sunday. Click on image for more details
That time of year; in schools the kids are giving Christmas cards, singing carols and acting in nativity plays; in colleges and universities its time to plan the Christmas raves and New Year's parties, at work expect to buy gifts for your colleagues and attend the Christmas party... THERE IS NO ESCAPING IT... What do I do?
It has been reported in both Bukhari and Muslim from Ibn Abbas (Allah be pleased with him), that, “When the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him) reached Medina, he found the Jews fasting the Day of `Ashura’, so he asked them, ‘What is this day you are fasting?’ They said, ‘This is a tremendous day. Allah saved Musa and his people on this day and drowned Pharaoh and his people. Musa fasted it out of thanks, so we fast it too.’ The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him) said, ‘And we are more deserving of Musa than you are.’ So he fasted this day, and ordered that it be fasted.” [Bukhari (2004) and Muslim (1130)]
Here we go again... another timely attack on Muslims and their beliefs... The Pano’D’rama programme criticised what was being taught in Muslim schools and attacked Muslims for teaching their children aspects of Shariah, which included the unsurprising view that homosexuality is a sin.
"Ibrahim was indeed a paragon of virtue, obedient to Allah, ever inclined to Him and he was not of those who set up equals to Allah. He was ever grateful for His favours, We chose him and guided him to a straight path; and We bestowed on him good in this world and in the Hereafter, he will surely be among the righteous." (16: 121-123)
When Umar ibn Abdul Aziz (ra) became caliph, he wrote to the great scholar Hasan al-Basree (ra) asking him to describe the attributes of a just Imaam, and Hasan replied:
Since the Niqaab ban in France, there has been much discussion and debate regarding Islam’s treatment of women, Muslims view the model implemented in the west as DECADENT, whereas the West view the Muslim women as OPPRESSED. We will be hosting a MOCK DEBATE that will aim to shed light on the way forward!
Kidnapped (along with her 3 children, It is not known if Suleman, who would now be 7 years old, is alive), beaten, tortured, strip searched, raped, false imprisonment for 86 years!
We have just left the blessed month of Ramadhan where the shaitan was chained. Now that the Shaitan's back, he'll be more than eager to catch up on the month he lost! Shaitan only whispers and those who do not understand the tactics of the Shaitan we’ll fall by making flimsy excuses and justify their wrongs!
Imam Al Ghazali (ra) said “Indeed the Qur’an and the Sultan (authority) are a twin. The Qur’an is a Basis and the Sultan is a Guard. Anything that does NOT have a basis will be easily destroyed and anything that has no GUARD will be LOST” [Kitab al’ilm, Ihya ulum ad deeb]
The holy month of Ramadan is approaching it is a time when the gates of Jahannam will be locked the shayateen will be chained and our Lord Allah (swt) will open the doors of Jannah. The seventy thousand veils between Allah (swt) and his slave will be removed and for once the Ummah will rediscover the bonds of unity and come together to observe the rituals of Islam. The month contains within it a night which is better than a thousand months and endless rewards.
“We appointed the Qibla to which thou wast used, only to test those who followed the Apostle from those who would turn on their heels (From the Faith). Indeed it was (A change) momentous, except to those guided by God.” (Baqarah: 143)
Brother's came together to watch the Finals at MoD. We also held a short presentation on the Lessons of the World Cup the week previous which was a last minute change due to the scheduled speaker being injured. Click below to listen to the talk.
Abu Hurairah (ra) narrates that Rasulullah (saw) said: “There are seven whom Allaah (swt) will shade in His Shade on the Day when there is no shade except His Shade:
On the authority of `Adi Ibn Hatim (ra), it is reported that he heard the Messenger of Allah (saw) reciting this Qur'anic verse: "They have taken their rabbis and their monks as lords beside Allah and [they take as a lord] Al-Masih, Isa, the son of Maryam, yet they were not commanded but to worship One God: None has the right to be worshipped but He - Praise and Glory to Him: [Far is He] from having the partners they associate [with Him]" (Qur'an 9:31)...
So Election Day is just round the corner and you’ve probably had bare mans knocking on you door promising you the world if you vote for them! Other people are telling just go and vote to stop the BNP getting in. But as Muslims we need to ask ourselves what Islam says about voting in this system, whether it’s worth it and what the alternative is?
Belgium voted on banning the Burka, just a couple months after Switzerland voted to ban the minarets, while the Dutch MP who wants to ban the Quran is riding high in the polls. Where is this all heading??? Though only a few sisters where the Niqab, it’s being used as a sly tool to chip away at Islam and the Muslim’s in Europe and is only the tip of the iceberg. This storm is not going away but getting stronger and unless we Muslims stand up together, we’ll all just get blown little by little...
Masjid Al Aqsa was the 1st qibla of Islam, the place where the Prophet Muhammad (saw) made the night journey to and the 3rd holiest site in Islam. Today, Masjid Al Aqsa is under occupation and under attack, Men over 50 are only allowed to pray on Fridays and the Israelis are digging underneath it and want to destroy it to build a temple!!! This is going on daily but what are we doing to defend this holy mosque, and it’s land? What are the Muslim rulers doing and where are our armies?
The only thing in life that's definite is...DEATH. The prophet (saw) said "Remember often the destroyer of pleasures", but rather than remember it, we run away from it, though it comes without warning. So have we prepared for the eventuality? shouldn't we be concerned about what happens after, we reach our Final Destination.
